Will you recognise the no-claims bonus I built up with my insurer back home?
Yes. That's the main difference with us: many Spanish insurers ignore your claim-free years abroad and quote you as a new driver. We apply the maximum no-claims bonus when you give us a certificate from your previous insurer showing your years insured without claims.
What document do I need to prove my no-claims history?
A no-claims certificate (sometimes called a no-claims discount letter) from your previous insurer, stating the policy dates, the insured driver and any claims. Ask your insurer for a recent one; we'll tell you if we need anything else, such as a translation.
I've just moved to Spain. Can I insure a car on foreign plates?
Once you're resident, a car on foreign plates generally has to be re-registered in Spain. We insure Spanish-registered vehicles, so tell us when your car will have its Spanish plates and we'll have the policy ready from that day, with your no-claims bonus applied.
Can I choose which workshop repairs my car?
Yes, you have free choice of repair shop. If you use the Allianz network of Excellent Workshops, you also get extra services such as a courtesy car, vehicle cleaning and collection and delivery.
From what distance does roadside assistance cover me?
From kilometre zero. If your battery goes flat in your own garage or you get a puncture outside your front door, we send help straight away, anywhere in Spain.
Do I have to pay an excess on comprehensive cover?
You choose. Comprehensive without excess means you pay nothing towards repairs; comprehensive with excess lowers your annual premium in exchange for a small contribution per claim.
How do I report an accident?
Call or WhatsApp our office and we'll guide you in English. You can also use the Allianz app to share your location and send photos. If another driver is involved, fill in the European accident statement (parte amistoso) together at the scene.
Does my policy cover natural events such as a DANA?
Yes. Your policy covers natural events such as floods from heavy rain, strong winds and hail. For extraordinary events, the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros pays through your policy and we help you with the claim.
Am I covered if I drive to the UK or elsewhere in Europe?
Your compulsory cover applies throughout the EU and the other countries in the Green Card system, which include the UK. Tell us before a long trip abroad so we can confirm the details of your cover.
Can I visit your office in Murcia?
Of course. Our office is at Avenida General Primo de Rivera, 6 (Entresuelo B), in Murcia city centre. We'll review your current policy and prepare your quote face to face, in English.
