FAQs
Allianz Capital: frequently asked questions
What is Allianz Capital and how does it help me in retirement?
Allianz Capital is a life savings insurance policy designed as a financial planning tool to live off your savings safely. Unlike a simple bank deposit, it lets you invest a lump sum and set up a regular income, turning idle savings into guaranteed extra income for a comfortable retirement.
What is the minimum investment?
Allianz Capital is taken out with a single premium from €15,000, a suitable amount to start structuring a regular income or to plan ahead for future health or care costs.
Do I control how much I receive and when?
Yes. You tell your adviser what percentage of your investment you want to receive, how often (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly) and the exact date you want payments to start going into your bank account.
What return do I get, and is it guaranteed?
Allianz Capital is designed for cautious savers. Allianz guarantees by contract a fixed return for the first year, protecting your capital from stock market falls, and your remaining balance keeps growing at that rate while you receive your payments.
How does the return work in later years?
After the first year, Allianz tells you in advance each year the new guaranteed rate for the coming year, based on market conditions, so you always have certainty for the next 12 months.
What if I need a large amount unexpectedly?
You have full or partial access from the first month. In addition, at the end of the second year (within the following 30 days) and on each later anniversary, you can withdraw your balance with its full guarantee. We'll explain the conditions at other times before you sign.
Can I change the payments once the contract is signed?
Yes. If your needs change, you can change the amount or frequency of your payments through your adviser, without complicated paperwork.
Is Allianz Capital useful for inheritance planning?
Yes. As a life savings policy with named beneficiaries, the money goes directly to them without lengthy estate procedures. Spanish inheritance tax still applies, but in the Region of Murcia close relatives can benefit from a 99% tax credit. Different rules may apply if your beneficiaries live abroad.
What happens to the remaining capital if I die?
It isn't lost. Your designated beneficiaries (children, spouse or heirs) receive 100% of your available balance at that time, plus an extra €300 paid quickly to give them liquidity at a difficult moment.
Why trust Allianz with my savings rather than my bank?
European insurers are subject to the Solvency II rules. Allianz, one of the world's largest insurance and asset management groups, has a Solvency II ratio above 200% and an 'AA' financial strength rating from S&P.
