Motorbike insurance in Spain: frequently asked questions
Will you take my no-claims history from abroad into account?
Yes. Bring us a no-claims certificate from your previous insurer in your home country, showing your years insured and any claims. We'll use it so you aren't quoted as a brand-new rider.
Why arrange my motorbike insurance with a local agency instead of online?
You get the same Allianz cover, but with a real person who advises you in English, handles your claims personally and stands up for you with the insurer, rather than a call centre.
Which workshops can I use after an accident?
You have free choice of workshop. If you use the Allianz network of Excellent Workshops, you also get fast assessment, priority service and an extended warranty on repairs.
Is damage from heavy rain or a DANA covered?
Damage from extraordinary weather events such as a DANA or severe flooding is paid by the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros through your policy, even with third-party cover. We handle the claim with the Consorcio for you.
Am I covered on mountain routes at weekends?
Yes. Roadside assistance from km 0 covers you on any public road in the Region of Murcia and the rest of Spain. If you break down, get a puncture or have an accident, we recover you and your bike.
Am I covered if I ride to Morocco or elsewhere abroad?
Yes, with the international certificate of insurance (formerly the Green Card), which guarantees your liability cover and international legal assistance. Ask us for it before your trip.
Does the policy help with traffic fines?
Yes. You have access to advice and appeals against traffic fines from town halls and the DGT, handled by specialist lawyers.
Is my passenger covered?
Your liability cover always compensates your passenger if they're injured in an accident. If you declare that you ride with a passenger, the luggage and passenger cover can also protect their belongings.
Is my bike covered against vandalism if I park it on the street?
Yes, if you choose comprehensive cover or add the impact and vandalism cover: damage to your parked bike, whether it's scratched, knocked over or set on fire, is covered.
What affects the price of my motorbike insurance?
Mainly your claims history, how long you've held your motorbike licence and your bike's engine size and power. The more claim-free experience you have, the bigger your discount.
